| The team took a day off and explored the 9th Ward
area of New Orleans. Left to right: Top - Cory, Matt, Ben, Justin, Andrew. Bottom - Mrs. Van Kirk, Katie, Aaron, Kristina, Amy. |
The devastation in the 9th Ward, adjacent to where the levee broke, was amazing, even months after Hurricane Katrina (all the pictures on this page were taken in January 2006). | Entire neighborhoods like this one were obliterated by the storm's fury, with few, if any, buildings left standing. |

| What the storm did to cars was nearly as amazing as what it did to houses. | This car sits under a house that has been moved off its foundation. | This car was lifted up by the swirling currents and dropped on top of a fence. |

| Even the rich didn't escape - this limousine is parked atop a battered pickup truck. | This mangled heap of twisted metal is barely recognizable as a car. | If you look closely, you can see three cars piled in the remnants of this garage/carport. |
